Yang Jian was born in 1982 in Fujian Province and graduated from China’s prestigious Xiamen University, majoring fine art. Later his graduated studies at Xiamen focused on mixed media and multi-media arts. From 2009 to 2010 he will be the visiting artist in the Dutch Royal Art Academy in Holland. His solo exhibition include 2007 installation video exhibition in Xiamen City, and Situation #3 in Sandberg Art School, Holland. Since 2003, his major group exhibition credits include the installation One Minute in the World in Beijing Art Today Museum; Out of Place in Art Gene in the UK; Art and Environment Festival in Germany, Licht Feld 7 in Switzerland; Elevated World in Chinese European Art Center (2006); Kunstvlaai 2006 in Amsterdam; Max 5 at International Video Festival in London; video installations in Stedelijk Art Museum, Amsterdam; video programs in Netherlands VPRO and Salto, Holland.
